How we build our Houses
Below are some photographs from concept to completion showing details of how we construct our homes, using steel and concrete
1 - Marking out the area of the house that is to be constructed.
2 - The beginning of the foundations. A steel frame construction is made using 7.5 tonnes of steel
3 - Continuing of foundations. 71 cubic metre of concrete is poured onto the steel frame to make the base of the construction.
4 -The columns are then constructed using steel frames and again concrete, approx 11 cubic metres for all the columns shown. |
5 - The roof of the first floor is made using 3 tonnes of steel framework and then filled with 21 cubic metres of concrete.
6 - First floor columns and beams constructed using 1.8 tonnes of steel and 12 cubic metres of concrete.
7 - After the concrete has been left to set the construction of the outer walls starts using quality bricks and mortar.
8 - The walls being completed. A supporting line is put in half way using steel and concrete to hold the construction together.
10 - A wooden frame is constructed as a base for the roof.
11 - Roof is constructed using roman tiles, the traditional colours used in Zakynthos are yellow and terracotta red. The roof is fully insulated and lined and has exposed beams inside the house.
12 - Walls are then plastered first using quality mortar and then finished with white plastering.

Final construction of the house with floor tiles, windows and doors and painted inside and out. |

How we construct boundary walls
The description below is for a boundary wall measuring 35m length and 4m high
1 - Foundations are constructed using approx 5 tonnes of steel and 40 cubic metres of concrete. |
2 - A wooden frame is constructed by hand to make a mold which is then filled with approx 49 cubic metres
of concrete and steel framework 9of 6 tonnes. After this has set the wooden frame is removed leaving the wall. |
