Zakynthos is the third largest of the Ionian Islands and is located 8.5 nautical miles from the Island of Kefalonia from its northern point and 9.5 nautical miles from the mainland coast of the Peloponnese to which the island is linked by a frequent ferry service (the trip from Zakynthos to Killini takes about 1hour and 15mins.

The Island is roughly 125 km in length and covers and area of 406 sqkm.

The terrain is varied; there are plains in the eastern part which merge gently into peaceful bays and golden beaches, while the western side of the island is mountainous with steep cliffs along its coastline.

Although the mountains are not particularly high, they occupy a fair portion of the island.

The main bays are at Tsilivi, Alykes and Laganas where you will find fantastic golden sandy beaches and crystal clear blue sea. The island has a population of approx 33,000 people according to the last census poll.
